Farm Conversion, Cheshire

The project involves the conversion and extension of two existing barns to form a new five bedroom house in a rural location south of Manchester.

Two brick built barns are retained and linked with a glass and timber entrance. A new timber-clad garage and bedroom wing is added to enclose an open courtyard.

Living accommodation is placed in the larger two storey barn, making use of existing openings, with a guest suite and recreational facilities in the smaller single storey barn.

A swimming pool is incorporated at basement level beneath the link, with glass sections of floor in this area allowing views through and admitting daylight.
